Acupuncture is a component of traditional Chinese medicine that originated in China over 5,000 years ago. It is based on the belief that living beings have a vital energy, called "Qi", that circulates through twelve invisible energy lines known as meridians on the body.
Each meridian is associated with a different organ system. An imbalance in the flow of Qi throughout a meridian is how disease begins. Acupuncturists insert needles into specified points along meridian lines to influence the restore balance to the flow of qi. There are over 1,000 acupuncture points on the body.​​

Massage Technique

2. Deep Tissue Massage: heavy pressure massage, working on deeper into the muscles.

3. Combination Massage: different styles of massage combined to work on an individuals need. This is the most common massage applied in the office, don't hesitate to give feed back to the therapist.

4. Myofascial Release/ Cross Friction Massage: Focuses on adhesion created by injury, repetitive movements, etc. This type of massage can be uncomfortable as its purpose is to break up adhesion in the body for from improper healing so the body can heal correctly.

5. Negative Pressure Massage: Utilizing cups (fire cupping or suction cups) they are applied to area of discomfort. The cups create a negative pressure pulling the skin away from the body. This is similar to deep tissue but instead of pushing into the tissue, the tissue get pulled up. This is good for circulation, breaking up adhesion, and working on relaxing the muscles. This therapy can leave marks (such as redness, petechea, bruising) that can last a few days depending on your skin sensitivity.

6. Sports Massage: a more vigorous massage applied stimulate the body for sports activities, it's a warm up for physical activity.

7. Trigger Point Therapy: Focuses on nodules created by tension that refer pain to other areas in the body. You can feel slight discomfort as it might recreate the pain but pressure is applied without movement until pain/discomfort diminishes.

8. Lymphatic/Circulation Massage: a very light superficial massage with stroking motions toward the heart to improve circulation.
